Same issue with 3GS.

I’ve found disabling multitasking, and wallpaper background has helped significantly with performance. Judicious management of radios and applications has been the only way I can successfully keep my battery alive for 15+ hours without a recharge.

Jailbreak + non AT&T SIM FTW.
